The Black Knight arm protection from HF Armory is a purpose-built plastic protection for HEMA fencing, developed on the basis of many years of experience in HMB and other forms of historical fencing. Unlike various modifications of motorcycle or bicycle protectors, the Black Knight was designed from the ground up specifically for historical fencing. Its design is a sports stylisation of knight plate armour from the second half of the 14th century, and the entire set is made from impact-resistant plastic in black.
The set consists of four separate parts (each supplied as a pair):
- Fully closed anatomical forearm protection – covers the entire surface of the forearm without restricting movement
- Elbow protection with rondel – protects the elbow joint from all sides; the conical shape ensures that part of the kinetic energy of a blow slides away from the joint
- Biceps protection – does not restrict movement and can be removed if needed
- Shoulder protection – cannot be shifted sideways or backwards, providing excellent protection of the shoulder joint
All parts are lightweight, provide good joint protection, and allow comfortable movement. They can be attached to a jacket together to form a one-piece construction, or used separately – depending on your fencing style and the weapon you use.
