The A.R.A rapier from HF Armory is a stylisation of a late Spanish-style rapier. Historically, rapiers of this type were optimised for thrust, with no opportunity to make cuts.
This is the second generation of the Rapier Duellist, developed together for Accademia Romana D'armi in cooperation with Mr. Francesco Loda. Compared to the first generation, it features a more anatomical and comfortable grip and a shorter, heavier pommel, allowing for better blade control.
The rapier is based on a triangular musketeer's blade with a length of 105 cm. This shape makes the weapon light, durable, and maximally long – combining durability, light weight, and low cost. The blade is made from 60S2A high-carbon steel, hardened to 51–53 HRC.
⚠️ Please note that not every HEMA fencing competition allows the use of musketeer's blades. We recommend clarifying the rules of the competition before purchasing. If the competition does not allow musketeer's blades, we recommend considering the Spanish-style rapier.
