History of 5M

It all started in 1991 when my dad (Jiří Beran Sr.), with his friends Honza Tůma and Karel Křemen, founded the fencing club SC Praha (then called Second Praha). With the new fencing club, which had dedicated evening training facilities in the gym of the Tupolevova School in Prague Letňany, the demand for fencing equipment logically began. That is why my dad and Honza Tůma founded the company 5M spol. s.r.o. They started working closely with the German company Allstar, which we represent in the Czech Republic to this day, and which is more than a family business partner to us. From the very start, the company not only imported fencing equipment from Germany, Russia and Ukraine, but also began its own production. Some of the products that many people may remember were 5M bags, guards, socks, body cords, genuine leather gloves, etc. At this time, the company also opened a bricks-and-mortar store in the street Mánesova in Prague Vinohrady. For the next few years, my dad and Honza took care of the company, with the support of Jarda Kail and Mrs. Vojtíšková, the accountants.

The main turning point came after a few years with the construction of a modern fencing hall in Letňany, Prague. My father played a big part in making this happen. As a result, SC Praha found a new home in its very own premises. To this day, it provides top training conditions 24 hours a day. In the hall, the BB Arena, the 5M shop has also found its place, which means it can serve fencers almost directly from the piste.

Jiří Beran Jr. joined the company in 2008 and devoted himself exclusively to the company. In recent years, Pavel and Ester have been brought onto the team, with Pavel taking care of the e-shop and Ester the shop itself.

We are currently breathing new life into the brand with products exclusively produced in the Czech Republic, such as fencing roller bags, certified uniforms, etc.

We enjoy fencing. Our drivers are satisfied customers and the introduction of new products.

I believe you have something to look forward to, not only now but in the future.
