Popis produktu
The book "Šerm šavlí" by Tvarůžek from 1910, whose reprint we are publishing after 115 years, is still a valued methodology of sport fencing with sabers, especially among enthusiasts of European martial arts and classical fencing. The author strictly based his work on the new Italian school of fencing, which successfully displaced the outdated French school from European fencing halls and tournaments. The main inspiration for Tvarůžek was the Italian master Luigi Barbasetti, who operated in Vienna at the end of the 19th century, where he founded his own fencing school and, based on its success, taught military fencing masters at the Austro-Hungarian Military Academy in Vienna's New Town.
The essence of the methodology that Tvarůžek successfully implemented into the Czech sports environment were circular cuts called "máchy" by the author. Tvarůžek also created Czech terminology for fencing (for saber and foil), based on older attempts by Miroslav Tyrš. This reprint will surely expand the knowledge of Tvarůžek’s art of classical fencing with sabers among enthusiasts of this noble sports discipline, not only among sport fencers but also students of historical fencing or martial arts fencing. The charm of Tvarůžek's school also lies in the fact that it has not yet been deprived of its classical technique and elegance due to electric recording devices.
